Hi all
I hope the summer season got off to a good start in Droitwich on Tuesday. Sorry I couldn’t be there, but I plan to be at Chaddesley Woods this coming Tuesday.
We are still in Scotland, the weather is typically Scottish – 4 seasons in one day and getting good photographic light is a challenge.
Personally I’ve taken on board the judges’ critique of my submissions over the year so I have focused on several things. The main thing has been getting my images sharp – always a good starting point before editing on the computer – and the answer isn’t that complicated. Get to know your camera and the little tweaks that can be made to get the best quality in your images! It seems to be working – now if only I can get the right judges!
The other thing that helps is getting your peers to offer constructive criticism. Not everyone – especially the newer members – will know about the Critique Group that runs within the club. In a nutshell we submit images online for other members in the group to offer constructive criticism of our work. It’s open to all standards and there is plenty to learn from the critique that will read on other members work. No pressure – one image every few weeks is all that’s required. To join please contact Richard Chapman.
I’m also delighted to announce that Richard has volunteered to take on the role of Vice Chairperson of BPS. Richard is a hard working and valued member of our club and I greatly value his support.
Most of you (but not all) are aware of our Facebook Group page – recently renamed as Out and About. This is a chance for BPS members to post images, share photographic tips and opinions and also share events and outings. If you have a good idea where to go for some great images, why not share it with other members. It’s a great way to meet people especially the newer members. I will stress that this is for social purposes only – most events will be private outings as opposed to club outings therefore individuals will be responsible for their own safety and actions if anything is arranged. (Sorry to go so serious for a minute ) Why not join the group and have fun at the same time.
Anyway I seem to have gone on a lot – must have too much time on my hands in Scotland. Happy snapping and see you all soon.
David
