Last Tuesday saw another great model night featuring Elise and Kim – I hope everyone had fun and got some great shots. Thanks to everyone that helped set up and put away – there’s always a lot to do on model nights. Please remember to send a couple of image to Elise at nolimitcommissions@gmail.com

A quick reminder that you have until Tuesday to get your prints in for the first print competition of the year – mono and Nature categories. If you are entering for the first time, be aware that we need the actual print dropped off at the club AND a jpeg entered via Pixoroo. The competition will be closed to new entries at midnight on Tuesday.

This week’s meeting is billed as a Practical Night – this can mean all sorts of things, but for this session we have a bit of a mixed bag. There will be some still life setups including suitable lighting, a print mounting demo/helpdesk from Nick, and I will bring along a negative scanner to show anyone who might be interested in scanning old pre-digital photos how simple the process can be. Please feel free to bring some old negatives (or old prints that you don’t have negatives for) and I can scan them for you on the night.

We will also have something a little different – a visit from a local visual artist Clare Nisbet, who has requested our help with a project she is working on. For her project “Familiar lives” she would like to chat to people who have a personal/favourite historical photograph (1945-present) that they can share with her – there is more information on the project at http://www.clarenisbetartist.com/familiar-lives and in the attached files. She is looking for “very ordinary photographs” (one or two each) which mean something special to you as an individual. This is something that has been arranged at very short notice, since a practical night like this one is the only evening where such a visit might really work, but I hope we can between us find enough old photographs to support the project – not that I would dare to suggest that any of us take “very ordinary photographs”. Participation is of course entirely voluntary.

We will also be holding a raffle this week, so please bring along some cash!
