Another fantastic evening last Tuesday with some breathtaking astronomical images from Peter Jenkins FRAS. I know some members said that some of the science went “over their heads” but that’s what you’d hope for from an astronomer (groan).  Seriously though, I thought it was a really good evening and good to see some images very different from what we normally see, or take.

I’ve just come back from the Creative Arts showcase at Bromsgrove school (leaving our stall in the very capable hands of David and Anne). We had a few visitors showing an interest in potentially joining the club, and some interesting chats with other local artists, dignitaries, etc. There may be some potential for future collaborations or visits to come out of it. Many thanks to all members who called in to help, especially to David and Anne for all the work setting up and taking down.

Coming up this week we have a Practical Evening where Al Haden will be running a session on “Light Painting”. No early session this week, so we’ll open up at 7:30 for an 8pm start. Just in case you missed Al’s note last week, please bring a tripod (and a camera. of course) if you want to take part in the light painting activities – I’ll bring along a few spare tripods in case anyone does not have one.

Also remember that Tuesday is the last day for entry into the 2nd PDI competition – the categories are Colour and Nature, and the judge will be our old friend Peter Gennard MFIAP EFIAP/d1.

That’s it for this week – looking forward to seeing you all on Tuesday

Richard
