A great evening at the club on Tuesday, with a great atmosphere (and a very full house) for the third annual “Bromsgrove Battle” inter-club competition.
A very high quality selection of images from all five clubs, with a very fair and thoughtful judge giving good feedback on all the images, together with some great cakes (thanks Sheila!) all made for a very enjoyable evening. Thanks to all involved in making it happen, in particular to the selection committee, to Linda for organising the raffle, to David and Nick running the projector, and especially to Jenny for organising the battle, sponsoring the trophy, and liaising with all the other clubs.
Bromsgrove put in a very creditable performance, with images from Al Haden, Sue Vernon, Ele Watts and Jenny Webster all being awarded the maximum 20 points, but this time, Solihull were just too strong for us, with an outstanding score of 193 out of a possible 200 proving impossible to match. So we’ll have to be content with second place this year, and look forward to trying to win the trophy back in 2026.
This coming Tuesday we have two more exciting things to look forward to. The early session from Ian Bowes will be talking all about ICM (intentional camera movement), where a slower shutter speed is used together with intentionally moving the camera while the picture is being taken, to create an artistic effect. Ian will be covering a brief history, techniques and equipment requirements plus numerous images of how this can be incorporated into street, landscape, wildlife and some studio projects.
The main session is our third print competition, with Colour and Nature sections, judged by Bob Train LRPS CPAGB. Should be some great images on view.
I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday
Richard
