Another successful model night last Tuesday, with a variety of outfits from the ever-reliable Elise and her friend Vic. It was well attended and I know for quite a few new members it was their first experience of shooting models. I hope everyone had a good time – please remember to send the models an image or two via the contact details in Colin’s email. Many thanks to everyone that helped set up and put away the studio equipment.

On Thursday a large contingent of BPS members travelled to the Bonded Warehouse in Stourbridge for the annual “Seven-a-side” competition that Stourbridge Photographic Society have been hosting since 1973. With Stourbridge hoping to win for a record-equalling 4th consecutive year, it was always going to be a closely-fought competition, and at the half-way stage it was neck-and-neck with both Stourbridge and Bromsgrove on 119 points. In the second half we just managed to pull clear and won by just 2 points, with 240 points to Stourbridge’s 238, followed by Droitwich on 238 and Kidderminster on 218. This was our first win in this competition since 2015, so huge congratulations to the selection committee and to all those whose photos were selected, especially to Julie Hall and Sue Vernon who each had an image score the maximum 20 points.

This coming Tuesday we have our 4th Print competition, judged by Louise Hill LRPS MPAGB. Looking at how full the print boxes were at the end of last week’s session, I think it’s going to be a busy night! We will also have an early session from Jenny Webster, talking about photographing horses (I suspect a great deal of what she has to say will be applicable to photography of other domestic species too). Bring your own horse…

Also to look forward to on Tuesday is a raffle – so bring along some cash if you want to be in with a chance of winning!

That’s it for this week – see you all on Tuesday

Richard
