23.03.2025 Vocal Point

Another exciting week at the club last week, with Jenny’s discussion on photographic distinctions followed by the MCPF travelling portfolio. There were some brilling images included, and some thoughtful commentary (and some weird sound effects).

Not forgetting of course the highlight of the evening – the fire drill! Thanks everyone for your cooperation on this. It helps us tick the right boxes for the insurance…

Next week, I can pretty much guarantee (since I will miss it) that we will have another exceptional presentation. Jan always seems to arrange the best ones for when I am away. On this occasion it’s Bob Goode ARPS, with a presentation entitled “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” The keen-eyed among you will have noticed one of Bob’s pictures in the MCPF portfolio last week, so that will give you some idea of the sort of standard to look out for. He was also the judge for the Bromsgrove Challenge Cup in January, and I remember his commentary being both insightful and amusing. There is no early session.

Jenny Webster has asked me to put out an appeal for assistance at the MCPF Championships on April 5th. The way the competition is organized there is a selection process between the first and second rounds, so some representation from the club is required!

The location isBRAUNSTONE CIVIC CENTRE
LEICESTER
LE3 2PP

Commencing at 10.30am. Jenny will be going, with a large box of prints, and has space for a couple of people in her car (might be an early start). Please let Jenny know if you are able to attend.

That’s it for this week
